highly textured hair is not a term you would heard a lot. now you are starting to hear it more often. in past you would hear nappy, bad hair, hair like a brillo pad or things of that such nature. I think now that people are taking more of a natural stand all the way around the board from eating clean to no longer putting chemicals on the hair you are now seeing more texture as you walk in the streets. from a stylist aspect we have always loved to play with different textures of hair. even though you have people that have come away from relaxers you still have people that want some sort of texture management . so options are out there….. relaxers to Brazilian treatments ,keratin treatments to taming treatments, texturizers to silk presses. there are lots of things out there that you can do to help you find what you are looking for to help to get your hair where you want it. so relaxers would be best for you if you have short hair that you want to lay smooth and have that sharp precision look if you have very course textured and thick hair and your are not looking to wear it in its natural state permanently straight touch ups done from 6-12 weeks . Japanese and Brazilian treatments are more pricey that relaxers but are also there to provide straightness but your hair bust be at least 4 inches or longer so your hair can be pressed to the desired straightness with a flat iron. but they do contain formaldehyde which are very cariogenic to the body touch ups are done usually about 4-6 months. keratin treatments do not break bonds but they rearrange the bonds of the hair and remove up to 60% of the curl from the hair hand help to control frizz from the hair making it more manageable usually done about 3-4 months. taming treatments provide more versatility to the client offering you customization on weather you want to control frizz, reduce shrinkage, reduce curls, rebuild damaged hair, transition the hair from relaxers last from about 90 days to 4-6 months . texturizers are mild relaxers and silk presses are a temporary way of straightening the hair that last until the next shampoo. you have to find what is right for you and what you are looking to do with your hair
